With over 25 years’ experience of working in graphic design including 7 years as a Golf Club Manager, I love being creative and achieving positive results for my clients. I bring a wide breadth of skill, energy and enthusiasm to every project I undertake and look forward to each new challenge...
My career in graphics began in the mid 1980s, at an established design partnership based in Sudbury, Suffolk initially as a typographer. With the introduction of Apple’s PowerMac in the late 80’s, everything changed and it was an exciting time to be in digital design and I swiftly moved into this field. After 9 years I decided to go freelance in order to work with more agencies and a diverse range of clients.
I formed Karen Rowe Design which traded from 1997 until 2009, at which point I took a sideways step to follow my other passion - golf. I was employed as a Golf Club Manager, on the Board of Directors as Company Secretary at Haverhill, a private members’ club. Today the club has approximately 700 members and is now worth in the region of £1m. I was able to bring a new element to day to day running and, by implementing my design and marketing experience, the club went from strength to strength. Through continued promotion both locally and further afield, the club’s profile was raised. Investment in the golf club’s course and facilities, coupled with publicity, built increased support for the annual PGA Pro Am. This subsequently attracted more prestigious events including the Suffolk Open, Suffolk Amateur Open, Powerade National Assistant Pro Qualifier, the Senior Ladies East Region Championship and various inter-county team matches. Haverhill was also one of the chosen venues to host Greene King’s ‘Old Speckled Hen’ golf days.
With a background in digital graphics and computers, I was keen for Haverhill to trial Club Systems’ Club V1 software and we were one of the first clubs in the east region to make this transition. We were able to work more efficiently and effectively, through the added benefit of statistical anaysis which Club V1 offered. This enabled us to promote to our membership either as a whole or to target specific groups, including green fee payers, societies and visitors. The club became increasingly popular with societies with many booking on a regular basis. Golf and social membership also increased, enjoying the benefits of the facilities; bar sales increased and the catering franchise virtually doubled its turnover in 5 years. Despite the recession, the golf club was flourishing and by April 2016 was in a sound position. I was ready for a new challenge and wanted to focus my attention on marketing and event promotion. It seemed a natural progression to offer this service to other golf cubs in order to encourage people to take up golf, promote membership and publicise golf events effectively. At the same time this will offer a new advertising opportunity on the Club Systems PSI screens to attract sponsors, in order to generate another revenue stream for golf clubs.
K-Mac Design & Promotion provides flyers and posters to accompany the screen adverts which can be distributed by golf clubs via their own databases, along with email formatted versions for circulation to other golf clubs, partner organisations and business networks with shared databases to reach a far wider audience. This service is affordable, easily managed, effective and more importantly, will generate increased support for your events. View packages...

I have over 30 years’ experience of working for Ford Motor Company and left from full time employment in 2005, having worked for both Ford of Europe and Ford of Britain. During this time I worked in various departments gaining experience in a variety of roles...
This experience included knowledge of technical writing, time management, future model design improvement, product defect resolution, marketing, corporate fleet account management, the sales tender process and also organising corporate hospitality. I have worked with and helped manage the aftersales side for large corporate fleets such as Royal Mail, BT, Northgate and a number of utility companies.
Since I left, I have carried out voluntary work for a charitable organisation, Essex Community Foundation. During this time, I also set up my own Trust with them to aide young people, by means of a grant, with their sporting careers and ambitions.
I especially enjoy meeting and working with customers and potential new business to discuss their needs, overcome their problems and provide our thoughts and experience to fulfill these aims and objectives.
